Rebuking A Brother For Idolizing
"So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, 'We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty" (Luke 17:10 NIV). Furthermore, the apostle Paul strongly rebuked the Corinthian Church when he said, "For when one says, I follow Paul," and another, "I follow Apollos," are you not mere human beings? What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe--as the Lord has assigned to each his task" (1 Corinthians 3:4-5).
I recently had a conversation with a brother and I was SHOCKED TO notice A BROTHER'S BEHAVIOUR After I rebuked him for idolizing a servant of God (1 Timothy 5:20). In his defense and zeal for the ‘mighty’ prophet of the Lord he used a derogatory term which is impermissible for a Christian to utter (Ephesians 4:29). As we know THERE ARE MANY fine PROPHETS of the Lord OUT THERE who hardly crave people’s attention. While we are to love our ministers, nowhere in the bible are we allowed to give them veneration but sadly this generation loves giving praise to men (Acts 14:9). As we know brethren we must worship the Lord only, the gifts a brother or sister has do not make them equal with the Lord and as Paul demonstrated we are servants only. In some of our experiences with the Lord, we had a someone in our ministry who always had a tendency of pastor worship and this grieved the Lord so much so that He gave us visions exposing the sins of that particular pastor to draw the person’s attention to Him as the sole Praise receiver (Isaiah 42:8) and by the Lord’s grace the person was freed from pastor idolization.
Idolizing Dr. Owour
As we all know, some ‘prophet’ is allowing himself to be called the mightiest prophet of the Lord, and still, he is not rebuking nor discouraging his followers regarding this. Furthermore, the show they display to ‘glorify’ their ministers is outright idolatry and blasphemous in the sight of God. Let’s continue with this warning below!
In a short vision previously, the Lord gave us a vision warning that Dr. Owour might also go to HELL and we shared with the readers that Dr. Owour loves the praise of men and this also displeased the Lord. How this happened, we had a visiting brother who greatly idolized Dr. Owour in fact the brother overlooked the Lord’s rebuke and considered Dr. Owour’s words to be the sole authority. In his zeal, the brother wanted to preach the same message of Dr. Owour by even visiting Churches and preaching about ‘holiness and repentance’. For his trouble, the Lord rebuked the brother saying, “I did not call My son Fred (not real name) to preach in Churches about holiness and repentance, but to be an ambassador and witness of the Gospel’. As a result, the brother and many other brethren did not take kindly to this rebuke from the Lord, he even said we are ‘blaspheming’ Dr. Owour and for such folly, the Lord punished such brethren. Lately, Dr. Owour claims that God Almighty addresses him as 'my lord' how blasphemous!
In addition, the Bible forbids prophet worship and to discourage people not to make a shrine of Moses’ graveside God buried him (Deuteronomy 34:5-7). Also, let’s look at the prophet Elijah, he was a humble servant who never insisted on self-honor. Thus, a true prophet or servant of God should rebuke his or her followers if not, the servant could be serving for self-adulation.
In conclusion, we are sharing a few Bible verses, “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid” (Proverbs 12:1KJV).
Also, “So don't bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love” (Proverbs 9:8 KJV).
